Name: Terri City: San Jose, CA Sent: Sat November 26 2005 12:23 AM My 15 yr old son has CRD and is in Stage 4 of Renal Failure. I'm doing as much research as possible so I can be most helpful & make informed decisions. I came across your site while searching for support groups. May your life be blessed for sharing this information. This helps me to not be so scared of the unknown. Respectfully, Terri Name: Ben City: Heath Springs, SC 29058 Sent: Sat November 12 2005 10:53 PM Hi Gil, My name is Ben and I am a RN. I have been a nurse for 24 years but I am brand new to dialysis. I was having a hard time remembering the process of setting up the pump for some reason. I have spent years in the ER and ICU but never in dialysis. For soem reason it just wasn't making sense to me so I went on line hoping to find something or someone to help me, and I found you and your webpage. I have been studying the guide that you wrote for machine you use and it has helped me tremendously. It is the same machine I will be using at work. Your unselfishness and attitude of helping others learn while you are on your own juorney is commendable and greatly appreciated. I pray that there is an extra special blessing bestowed upon you on your journey of life. Thanks, Ben Name: Nurse City: Scotland Sent: Tue November 1 2005 04:06 PM I read through your information and thought it was a brilliant down to earth explanation of haemodialysis. I'm sure many renal nurses would benefit from reading your story. Your terminology is an excellent example in the way patients who opt for haemodialysis should be taught. I am a senior nurse within a Scottish Renal ward and will say to you that by reading your story has taught me a lesson on how to deliver dialysis education to my patients. Yours Renal Nurse. Name: Joy City: Tuscaloosa, Alabama Sent: Mon October 31 2005 10:29 PM Hi Gil! I am a student dietitian learning about kidney disease/failure and dialysis options. Thank you for offering your personal perspective on this condition. It certainly helps to see it through the eyes of the patient! Best of luck!! -Joy Name: Kathleen Hoge City: Hanover, NH Sent: Mon October 03 2005 05:13 PM Hi Gil, I was wondering about whether or not you know of any improvements in the PD process since you tried it? My dad is thinking about doing PD, nightime process, and initially will not have to do a day exchange. But your experience was so awful, that I am wondering if he will be able to sleep, etc. He is 86 years old, and had a minor stroke on his left side, so I am worried his left hand will not be strong enough to deal with all the manipulating. He limps, and his hand does not grasp well. He has not had the catheter inserted as yet. Thanks for your advice in advance. You may remember me as "your kidney friend" from NY. This July 22nd will be 5 years with my kidney. So far all is going well. I am very lucky. I have been active in supporting the Kidney and Urology Foundation of America. It is important for us to help others still waiting for a kidney and to fund future research. You have always inspired me. Keep up the good work.
